90 Audi 90 - suspension help... spring has sprung !

Hey Audiphiles !

This isn't about my quattro but it is about a front drive 90 90. The front
left suspension is groaning. If I bounce the car with my hands upwards and
downwards it groans. If I turn the steering wheel it groans.

It sounds just like if the main coil spring is making a "I wish I was a
mattress spring kind of noise". I sprayed lubricant over bushings and
connection points and even coated the spring with lubricant but it had no
effect . Could it be a noise where the spring contacts the other metal on his
top or bottom to form the strut assembly ?

A couple weeks ago another 90 driver posted a groan inquiry and the consensus
seemed to be strut bearings..... well I had the car at the dealer installing
a fuel line and asked them to look at the groan, and well they ran out of
time in a day and I picked up the car hearing them say "we are not sure what
is ?" I don't think they even looked. The noise is loud enough to hear over
any little bump from within the car and the noise is in no way related to
road speed.

Any ideas ? troubleshooting methodology ? places to take it to ?

Sorry for all the groaning, any help would be nice !
