Nope.  The rover V8 is actually a Buick (yes, Buick) design that Rover
purchased the rights to in the late '60s.  The SAME design is still in use
today; Rover has not changed a thing since they started to use it...

Triumph stuck 2 TR7 (aka Dolomite) 4 cylinder engines together to produce
the OHC V8 that was used in the Stag.  Apparently these motors had major
problems, mainly overheating (imagine that); hence, the Stag only lasted a
couple of years in the states.  If you ever come across one, ask the owner
to pop the hood...quite a rare sight...
