I wonder how much metal has found its way up into the inlet manifold since I
first suggested checking for it. This failure mode is not common, but the
damage those metal particles can do can be so expensive that it's well worth
inverting the "check most probable first" diagnostic approach. You'll
obviously need to flush everything out - even with the turbo idling, it will
still be generating fragments and the previously generated ones will still be
migrating into the engine. Check compression - if you see a pattern of decline
from 5 down to one, you may have more serious problems.
