I recently tested the 4500 and 5000 (both factory re-furbs from Damark for
$99). I decided to go with the 5000 despite its larger size and what at
first is a slightly confusing display.  The 5000 and 4600 use newer
technology or algorithms than the 4500, which seems to false a lot on Ka
band.  I ran the 4500 and 500 side-by-side for a couple of weeks before
making my decision.

In the other car, I have a BEL 745 STiPlus.  I have gotten one ticket with
it and have never been convinced it is a great detector.  It can be falsed
with my cell phone and seems to give relatively short notice on real alerts.
I'd like to try the 945 and see if it's a lot better.
