ur-q temp sensor etc.

Well folks,
I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear my ur-q has successfully exceeded an
indicated 140mph today on three occasions during testing having FINALLY
solved my problem. I'm sure some of you have heard of the term "you stupid
plonker!"
Well thats how I feel!
After 11 weeks checking everything (and I mean everything) time and time
again to solve the dreaded misfire I eventually gave up and handed over to a
local shop to diagnose the prob. The guy spends 2 hours checking over the
electrics - everything fine. He then starts on the fuel end of things.
Within 5 mins he phones me at work...."Hey George, what plonker was messing
with you car before you came to me?". "Uh. dunno Colin, I've forgotten his
name" gulp. "Well George, whoever it was managed to swap over the two fuel
lines connected to the warm up regulator. He had them connected around the
wrong way at the metering head. I've put them back the right way and your
car is now a lethal weapon again!"

The original fault was caused by a dodgy warm up reg. not reducing the
pressure. However when I did change the reg. I had already screwed up on the
fuel lines so it appeared as though the same problem was still there!

Total spent on my own stupidity - 1600USD - Wheres that stick 'till I beat
myself again?

A final word: Thanks to all on this invaluable list who provided assistance
during this nightmare.
I also have to mention AM Cars in England whom I pestered every second day
on the phone looking for help. They gave every help possible even though
there was no financial benefit in it for them. They even suggested my
mechanic phone them for any info he might need to solve the problem - again,
no charge.

Thats it for now from one exceedingly happy (but red faced!) quattro owner.

P.S. AM Cars have a brand new ur-q for sale - yes, new. They took delivery
of the car in 1991 (it's one of the last produced) and kept it in their
showrooms since. Only 12 miles on the clock. They have now decided to sell
it for 40,000UK. Tornado red. Article on it in August issue of Volkswagon
Audi Car magazine.
