Lime Rock Picnic
Hey all,
I just arrived home after a visit to DC, and wanted to express my gratitude
for the Lime Rock event. Paul, you did a excellent job organizing the event.
The food was excellent, and the nuclear zucchini saved me as I happen to be a
vegetarian. Multiple thanks to the wife! That was one of the best BBQ's ever..
great food and great cars when with great people... make's me think of a toyota
ad campaign or maybe just to quote somebody's previous post on another topic
"the most fun you could have with your pants on" :)
It was great to finally put faces to some of the names that get thrown
around here. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I read someone's
writing, a image forms of this person. It was amusing to see what everyone
looked like.
The actual number of Audi's present overwhelmed me at first, or maybe that
was just the hangover. :) A night of bar-hopping in Hartford will do that to
you.
After a quick spin in Chef's Charlie Springed 200, I find myself lusting
for one. But.. alas, I don't think it'll happen. The Q will shortly return to
the old man, which is sad but in all honesty I'm a little relieved. My trusty
VW tends to be much more reliable.
Speaking of the Q's troubles. I had the 200 towed up to Springfield MA
from Hartford, as per Bob D'Amato's (sorry if I masacred you name bob..)
instructions. He recommended Father's and Son's in W.Springfield. I wish I had
listened to the directions more carefully, but they slipped me when the tow
truck operator arrived. He wasn't pleased. He almost refused to take the tow.
Then.. reconsidered.
I'm going to ramble a bit here.. but I think this might be slightly
amusing to you all..
We arrived at the shop around 8pm. Stupidly, I put the key in the
overnight slot without removing my stuff from the Q. Even more to my luck, the
tow truck operator locks the car!!! So.. I ended up using two coathangers to
drag my key envelope back from under the door! I thought for sure that I was
going to be arrested. That weekend was sweet and sour. Slave cylinder lets go
in Hartford, yet sis and I are back on speaking terms. Picnic was a blast, yet
I'm breaking into Father's and Son's trying to get my keys back so I can catch
a bus back to Albany later that evening. It was at that point where one feels
like laughing out loud, to themselves. I thought I was going to lose my sanity.
Hence.. I'm sad but a little relieved that the car will hopefully go back to my
father's abusive driving habits in a few days. Only because of an Audi would
you find me breaking and entering into a private garage! All the while I'm
trying to fish my keys out.. I'm picturing the cops with "bad-boys" them music
in the background. Me pushed against the wall and arrested for attempted
breaking and entering. Trying to explain that I was only getting my own keys
out! "uh-huh kid.. tell it to the judge." Too much.
So when's the next picnic. :)

P.S. Tow time = 40 minutes, covered by AAA
Breaking and entering = 2 hours, including walks to the gas station to ask
for wire coat hangers
bus ride = $17
find out the actual cost of repair tommorow!
P.P.S. Bob... I trust you and everything, but I was really shocked to find out
that Father's and Sons was a dealer. That makes me extremely nervous. I guess I
find out tommorow huh?
P.P.P.S. Oh.. and everyone was very cool. Thanks for the great time.
