OFFICE MEMO FWD>Audi rack fluid leak Date: 8/20/96
I have a 1987 Audi 5000 Quattro CS that has a slow steering rack fluid leak around the rack seals. The rack has approx. 100,000 miles on it & I add approx. 1/2 cup of fluid every month. Fluid drips on top of the transmission near the slave clutch cylinder which is mounted on top of the transmission.
I assume that the leak will gradually get worse. Is there a way to stop the leak or must I replace the costly rack?
Please Respond personally, as I am not a list member!!
