I though a little more about it - I was only doing about 2500 rpm...
so I guess the turbo might be a bit slow to spool up.
I also though I might have run into the fuel pump shutoff, but the effect
seemed too soft - just a noticeable reduction in acceleration.

I did check the intercooler output and turbo inlet. Nothing but normal
intake system crud. There wasn't any end play in the turbo and it turned
easily enough. It was getting too late to look at the turbo outlet today.
I also ran thru the fuse in fuel pump relay checks - the solenoid clicked
when it should and there were no error codes after driving.
It's also interesting to note that my (built in digital) boost guage
reads .1bar low consistently. I'm wondering if the sensor is reading low
allowing the 8psi boost, a little high for stock. I had thought it was the
digital readout which was wrong...
