Power windows still not working...
Ok, first let me say thanks to everyone who has responded directly to
me in regards to trouble shooting the power window circuits in the 91 200Q.
Shheesh, you guys HAVE done this before haven't you... A couple of little
tips helped avoid some costly mistakes. 8-)
But there wasn't an electrical problem... and now I'm stuck again...
So after we ripped the doors apart and realized all electricals were in
order we started in with the regulators vrs motor scenario. First we tried
backing the motor out of the regulator but it was stuck pretty good and we
didn't want to break anything so we took the backing plate off the reg to
see if anything was bound up in there, bad move... and good move. The good
of it was that now we were able to back the motor out and it worked !!!
the bad of it was that after we put everything back together we had accidently
missed putting the cable back on the pulleys, had to take everything back off.
Then we had too much tension to get the cable back into the regulator. Oh-oh...
There must be a "trick" to it... I hope. It was getting kind of late so we
basically buttoned everything up and locked out the back windows till I
consulted the list...
so here are a few questions.
IS there a trick to getting the cable back on ? Pulleys first or last ???
How is the window attached to the guide ? Is it perminately attached ? Seems
it would be alot easier if I could release the window while linning everything
up...
What kind of grease for the regulators or should these things NEVER even be opened ?
and can the motors themselves be oiled ??? I think the problem with these
two rear windows is that the car sat for so long that the motors just froze
in that position...
Can anyone relate ???
Thanks again, Tom..
