5000S stuck wheel+"limp home mode" problem

Hello,
I have an '85 5000 with two rear wheels stuck to the drums.  It seems like 
I've heard that this might be a common problem.

How in the world do you get them off?????

I've tried the trick of just snugging the bolts on the wheel and driving 
around nailing every pothole I could find.  Still stuck!!

That's the main problem.
The second is that the car recently decided to run in this "limp home mode". 
 If anyone has any quick suggestions on what sensors to troubleshoot or how 
far to throw the computer, please let me know.

P.S.  My next car will most likely be an A4 quattro.  Anybody hear if Audi 
might inject some more HP in the V6??
