Coupe v Boxster
Saam sez: One more day.
The Boxster is nice, and will be nice for many years. However,
IMHO, it would be a mistake to presume the Boxster will be a money maker
for you--even getting 5k under dealer. You may make a couple k, but with
some hassle. I remember when the ZR1 came out, a buddy bought one from
GM with much the same type of deal. He put it in storage, thinking the
market would go to frenzy level and he would make good money--didn't
happen. Ended up driving the car and enjoyed it, but my guess is you
could buy that car now for about 1/2 what he paid. For the most part,
with rare exceptions noted, new cars are a damned poor *investment*.
Now, if you factor in fun, etc., well, it is up to the individual.
You correctly note that BMW has a near zillion performance parts
for M3's and sister cars. Audi has much fewer. Certainly, the 90CQ is
not a race car. But you know what? At 80 mph it is going just as fast
as the Boxster will be going at 80:) Still, if you must have a P-car, go
with the C4. A move you won't regret.
