re: 4kQ suspension

re; BOGE/Koni durability

My dealer, who carries all 3 majors, claims the lowest
failure/return rate on the BOGEs.

Whenever you replace 4k front shocks, also do the
strut bearing, bump stop and dust sheild. Otherwise,
you have to pay full labor + allignment to install
$45 worth of stuff.

The control arm bushings on the 4kq generally last about
100k miles, then get sloppy. No real advantage to replaceing
them prematurely with shocks, except that its done.

For road driving, I liked the BOGE turbo TS (not gas) that I
put in my 4kq, and also like the TurboGas that I just
put in my 90q20v. Mazybe stiffer would be nice for
tracks, etc, but not for the road (stiff does not always
translate to better handling anyway).

I recently drove a 4kq with ??? shortened springs and
KYB shocks. What a pile of cr*p. Bump steer, jittery,
shuddery, yuk. Handled worse than my stock spring / BOGE
setup on anything short of glass, anyway.
