If you don't mind squealing and carbon dust on your wheels, I've heard that
Cool Carbon pads are extremely good, even at low temperature. You might be
interested in the following table. I collected this data from various
sources, including people on this list, but I can't vouch for it. If
anyone has any additional data, I'd love to see it.
Type Cold cf Hot cf Fading cf Notes
Stock .32 .35 ?
Repco MM .29 .38 ? - hard on rotors?
- quiet
- clean
Cool Carbons .45 .52 ? - very fade resistant
- noisy
- dirty
Pagid RS 4-2 Blue .41 .48 .37 - hard on rotors
- noisy, but not sqeak
- cct racing, etc.
- best for street?
Pagid RS 9 Yellow .37 .40 .36 - recom by Keith Ander
- rally, long dist cct
racing
Pagid RS 7 Black ? ? ? - designed for rear
axles
Based on this info, its easy to see why the Pagid Yellows are recommended.
Stickier than stock, slightly more stable cf cold to hot. Cool Carbons
look like an extra brake booster based on these numbers, but they are noisy
and dirty. The MMs on my car feel just like these numbers suggest. I
don't plan to use them again, either. HTH
