Re: Leaky Diffs at the plug

In a message dated 96-09-13 22:16:06 EDT, you write:

<< 1. Additives in the oil cleaned up junk around seal/metal interface that
built up over time, this junk was helping seal, junk now gone, seal
 leaks.

 2. Additives in oil might be different in new oil than old, which cause
swelling and changes in seals, causing leak.

Could this also be the source of pentosin leaks in racks and pumps as
 discussed earlier?

..... Hmmm, I'd go for 1) but not 2)... Have done a few synthetic swaps to
redline and find that it whisps more than the stock fluid.... Use teflon
tape (start a thread or two back tho) on the plugs, no leaks.... As far as
seals go, if they are leaking see 1) above, which means you are tying an
inexpensive fix for an expensive prollum...
