I agree with Andrew's comments.  It sounds like your friend was
running them way too low... especially if he thought the
performance of OEM Michelins was better!  My SO has a set of
D60A2's and they're great all-around tires.  When you consider the
price, they're fantastic tires.

Prior to my A4Q, I was a adnoH pilot, and swore by Comp-T/A HR4's.
They're a bit loud, but another good choice for this category.

The AVS S4-V is a pretty new tire, you may have trouble getting
a whole bunch of reviews, but Bob Myers had some really great
praise for them back in early August.  Check the archives.
