jammin laser & Beartracker
<snip>
I recall a study conducted by good folks @ "Automobile" several years back.
Their conclusion was unanimous: yes, you have a chance of avoiding a laser if:
your car is black,
your headlights are completely taped black,
your windshield is completely taped black and
you don't have a front plate
but here we are only one step shy of the full blown stealth technology,
for crying out loud.
So get a Valentine w/o laser and spend that $100 on a good CB, Steve.

Atually, there is a commercial laser jammer available for about $250 US or so. Fergit where I seen 'em advertised, mustah been AW or sumptin. Looks pretty cool. There is some type of transponder that mounts on the front of the vehicle and a control unit. Totally LEGAL they claim as there are no radio transmissions involved at all and there are no regs against jammin light. INMEC!
On the Beartracker, really just a toy. You're better off with a programmable scanner if you are willing to take a few minutes to figger out how to work one. The Beartracker 'car proximity' feature really is not very valuable as the patrol car can only be detected if someone else is transmitting - and you would hear this anyhow with a regular scanner monitoring the same freq. Really just a mahketing gimmik.
