If you really wanted to add that stuff, you would probably also need an
equalizer based on your comments about bass and treble controls. You could
set it and forget it, powering it with a relay driven from the antenna. It
seems a lot like throwing money into a large, very dark hole in the dash.

I would go with a new head unit. If it's for long drives, go with a
cassette receiver/CD controller and a CD changer. For short drives or when
you always have company, go with a CD receiver (1 CD in dash). I put a
Clarion cassette receiver in the urQ a couple years ago. Pro audio, nice
unit, detachable face, switchable illumination color which looks at home.
I just put a Sony CD receiver in the 560SL a couple months ago. Also nice,
switchable illumination, detachable face etc. You might also consider
Alpine.
