tripmeter/odometer

Thanks to Dave Head and Igor Kessel for the info: I'll dive back in to
the unit.

Igor; you said that you resoldered a connection on your board. Assuming
that my problem may be similar to your's but in a part of the circuit
that feeds the trip/odo, did you manage to get the faceplate and the
pointer off? On my unit, the small circuit board has to slide up off the
frame to expose the soldered side and the faceplate blocks that move. I
don't see any way to remove the pointer without breaking it since it
appears to be moulded onto the shaft.

Incidently, is it true that the tripmeter shouldn't be reset if the car
is moving?
Did I do this to myself?
