Allan,
  Do yourself a favor and buy the little plastic cap from the dealer that
spaces the ABS sensor from the axle. Cost is at most a couple of dollars and
is well spent IMHO. I tried to get by without it once when I replaced a
wheel bearing and wound up with the ABS being invoked just as the car was
coming to a stop. Bought and installed the plastic cap and all is well.
