I questioned the dealer about this. I took this with a grain of salt,
considering that this was a dealer, but since he had quite a bit of knowledge
I felt it was reasonable. He told me that in the new Audis, the maintainance
schedule was not just a marketing hype to keep up with other makers. He said
that he had spoken with some of the boys from across the pond and these
technicians said that due to the much better design and the better quality of
oils.. changing the oil before 7500 has no benefit.
If it was my car.. I would have still changed the oil at 3,000. What the heck,
it's cheap insurance on a vehicle that I would hold on to for a long time.
Since it was my parents car, and since they are leasing it instead of buying
it... it makes sense. I can't see keeping the A6 past its lease like we have
with the 200q. The old 200q was amazingly faster and stronger pulling then the
A6. Just my 2 cents. The A4 though sounds like a keeper.
