Given your service manager's information, I'd say don't touch
it until 7500.  I've heard the same thing third-hand.  Just
go relatively easy on the car and leave the factory oil in
for the first 7500 miles.

Check the oil frequently, and add plain-old-oil if necessary.
Apparently, these engines vary widely in their early oil
consumption.  I went through the whole 7500-mile period
and only had to add about half a quart to keep it above
MIN... I've heard others have had to add multiple quarts.
