My 90' CQ's got problems.....
Fellow 90-91 Quattro Coupe owners......my car has been called on by the Audi
Gods...for punishment!
The other evening, my brother-in-law, who we'll call Paul, because that's his
name, slammed my passenger side door shut, (while the window was in its rolled
down position) and I heard an awful noise like something snapped!!!!
I then proceeded to roll the window up (power windows of course) and bam (the
sound of something metal smacking the glass) and a scratch was immediately
inscribed on my unblemished window's tint. I know it sounds like the window
regulator or a part of the mounting hitting my window every time I roll my
window up or down.
1. Now here's the question.... Have any of you had this same thing occur to
your car or is this something out of the ordinary??
My mechanic, who is very trustworthy btw, says it will cost much money(while
rubbing his fingers together, (in his guttorial German accent)).
2. Is this type of repair reasonable for a above average home mechanic??
3. Have any of you taken apart your doors before??
4. Pain in the ass or what ???
I'm hoping it can be fixed with some keen American ingenuity and some twistie
ties,(just kidding).
Also, I am wondering about modifying my exhaust for a little better sound as
well as any additions to the zoom factor (hp)s. A friend of mine , who has a
very, very nice VW Corrado (lesser cousin of my Coupe Quattro), deleted his
middle exhaust pipe (which is similar to the CQ) and just ran a straight
section of pipe in its place and has much nicer exhaust note as well as a
couple of hp's increase (hp's not verified- sound-is verified).
5. Would you reccommend such action??
I do not want to spend too much $$$ on aftermarkets, and I'm not racing my car
enough to notice a slight decrease in low end torque,( possible side effect of
deleting middle pipe, so says muffler shop professional).
Much thanks to any fellow Audiphiles who offer a kind word or prayer .......on
behalf myself, my car,my girlfriend, my wallet, my checkbook, and my credit
cards Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
