The majority of our Audis have hydraulic valve lifters.  These things wear
out over time and develop some "slop".  This slop = noise =  time to
replace all the lifters.  It is not a very difficult procedure and can be
done for ~$10-$14 per lifter + $15 for a valve cover gasket.
