Yes I do. You need more than just a drill press. I use a precision digital
Bridgeport(mill/drill combo). After you are done calculating the patterns (I
am talking about quite a bit of mathematics here) you will have to implement
them on a dividing head. All in all is still a piece of cake.
I have everything blueprinted, if you ever decide to do this on your '87
5000. For a smaller rotor you'll have to do the calculus yourself.

Its cast iron which is not all that hard, it's....soapy, so to speak. But I
still use a 0.250" carbide drill on it. With a stream of green
cutting/cooling fluid.
