Re: 85 Clutch -No JoY
Sir, if the master cylinder was rebuilt about a year ago, and worked,
without you noticing any problems, then its probably the slave cylinder
that has gone south!
To remove it from the tranny you WILL need a specialy sized punch, or
simular tool or object. Then you will need to drive out the steel roll
pin atop the slave cylinder in the tranny's case. Their should also be a
metal wire type of saftry pin inserted thru the roll pin. Remove this
first. It comes out by hand. The punch will need to be 10mm round at one
end, to drive out the roll pin. Be careful not to damage it!
After removing mine a few times I wound up replacing it with a long 10mm
bolt and lock nut setup that works fine, and is much simpler to remove!
You'll see what I mean soon enough!
Once you remove the slave unit, you can tell if its bad, if its leaking
fluid. Their are rebuild kits out there, but if yours has rusted
internals which have pitted the linings, then just get a new one!
Instillation reverse of removal!
