definitely get the guides done. they are an achilles heel of the il5 engine in turbo or
n/a form. btw you don't say what your motor is. worn guides are usually noticed by
a smokey exhaust on over-run (eg. bottom of a hill on trailing throttle).
the work won't affect the bottom end at all. although some people would also do
big-ends and rings and give the bores a light hone while they were at it. i certainly would.
