I Test Drove the Eagle Talon !:-b

Being bored last thursday evening, I figured that I would take the local
Jeep/Eagle dealer up on the commercial's offer. He only had two on the
lot. One '96 AWD model and a piece o' crap bottom of the line empty
shell '97. At first, he didn't want to let me drive the AWD model
because it was sitting in the showroom, so I decided to reassure him by
saying,"Hey, I love my car. The commercials keep saying how wonderful
the talon is, and I want to find out. Rest assured, that if your car
impresses me more than mine, I will not be able to sleep until I have
one. As it stands, the AWD model is the only one that I would consider
replacing my Audi with." And with that, he grudgingly took the car out
of the showroom and off we went.

The only thing that the dealer could say about the car was that "it's
fast". Which it was. Very fast in fact. The turbo was a bit too
hyperactive for my liking. Especially for such a light car. I had to
work too hard to drive slowly. But, once we got away from the
dealership, I letter rip. Flying around a half empty industrial park,
sliding sideways through sharp corners, it actually was enjoyable.
Especially since I have never before been with a dealer that speechless
before. I think I scared the poor guy. Oh well. Back to the
dealership.

In my estimation, speed alone does not make a car better. Something
tells me that, five years down the road, that bEagle won't feel half as
good as my car does. Not to mention the fact that Audi is much more
luxury car oriented than most domestic manufacturers and a daily commute
in a car like the Talon would get very old very fast.

Kudos to Audi for manufacturing such a well rounded, solid, and enjoyable
product.
(note that the adjectives could be much more extensive but I feel that I
have taken up enough cyberspace for one posting.)

p.s. Hopefully the Audi gods will look upon this with favor and grant me
years of worry free driving.
