To check if the hypoid is getting into the auto gearbox, pull the dip
stick. Wipe the dipstick on a white paper napkin. Look at the fluid, it
should be RED and not yellowish brown or brown. Smell the fluid. if it
smells like hypoid....then you know the answer.
To check if auto fluid is getting into the diff. Make sure the car is
on level ground, then pull the diff's fill plug. You shouldnt get any
large amounts of fluid coming out. Plus the hypoid should flow like
molasses, slow. Its smell will be very prominantly hypoid! If you have
never smelled hypoid, go to the auto parts store and crack a bottle
open. You'll never forget this smell. Now synth hypoid smells different
than organic, make sure you know the difference. Also put some hypoid
from your diff on the white paper napkin. If the fluids look simular,
then good chance their mixing. If you get too much excess out of the
fill hole, then its mixing. The fill hole is where the max amount,
should be!
Let me know if you have any more Q's
