I agree that our licensing system isn't very effective (at all?), but I don't
think that is going to change anytime soon. It's just easier and more
profitable to give basically give away licenses and to ticket people to death
instead of actually spending money on driver education (for all ages). What
would happen if all of the money (profit$$$) from tickets went to building a
better driver education system. I know what it's like to be with poorly
trained drivers (all of my friends), if we go anywhere, I prefer to drive as
they make me a little uncomfortable with how unalert they are. Don't see
things changing for the better anytime soon though. It basically comes down
to wanting to be a better driver, most people are happy with the way they
drive now.
