RE: 90 quattro coupe

Sounds like it's been beat upon. I would stick fairly close to your
$6500 offer, maybe go as high as $7500. The squeak is probably the
hatch. It is all plastic, it tends to move as you drive, two easy fixes,
adjustment and silicone lubricant on the gaskets should make it go away.
Things to check:
Alignment - Sounds like it's been hit. check alignment, both tire wear
and does it pull to either side on a flat road?
Hydraulic pressure accumulator - Test 1 - Does the brake idiot light
stay on for more that 1-1.5seconds when the car is first started?
Yes=bad. Test 2 - Step on the brakes HARD with the engine running, if
the brake idiot light goes on then off, you need a new one, for about
$350.
Steering rack and pump - If it leaks fluid, you'll need to address it.
It uses an uncommon fluid called Pentosin, basically mineral oil, *not*
PS fluid. If some chucklehead put PS fluid in it, it'll leak. Big bucks
to fix.
General signs of poor upkeep, which it sounds like it's been subjected
to.
HTH.
