No ground clearance loss; the drain sits just above the bottome of
the pan. I guess if you hit a rock just right, it might take off
the valve where it would have missed the pan normally.
Also, I think you need to balance the likelihood of the valve opening
versus the threads on the pan stripping or the plug unscrewing.
I know which way I trust more.
