I don't know that the only difference would be high compression, my Gti had a
pretty high compression ratio, and that was a free-runner (thank goodness).
 Some engines do have relief pockets in their pistons.  I know Metric
Mechanic of BMW fame do this in their performance engines, they up the
compression ratio (by using larger pistons??).  As for diesels, I have know
clue.


-I remember awhile back the fuss over Redline Water Wetter.  I used it in my
bimmer with no problems, the temp gauge wasn't the most accurate in the
world, but I never had any adverse affect with its use.  I'll continue using
it.  Also,  putting Redline MTL in the bimmer tranny helped shifting
enormously, especially when winter rolled around. Also used Redline 75w90 in
the diff (even though it was leaking a little before, the Redline didn't seem
to affect that condition much).
