Quoting
OK, yooz guyz - a request.
I've deliberately left this one a day or to - to let the trail go cold.
But I want to have a moan, on behalf of those who pay dearly for their
Internet access, about "quoting".
I got a "Hurrah! Yeah!" message last week about US membership of the UK club.
There was nothing inappropriate about the intent or the content. But the form
was a reply to an old message listing _all_ of the putative US members.
14863 bytes, just to read: "OK, great, thanks."
Now - I don't want to throw cold water on one of the most energetic and vibrant
special interest groups on the Internet. This group _proves_ that this medium
works.
But guys - when you reply to a message - please spare a thought for those of us
whose local phone charges, compared with the free calls often available in the
USA, equate to a small country's defence budget. Downloading 14k costs me 5c
or so - a few dozen a day is, slowly, _real_ money.
