I believe that they are part of the new optional "warm-weather package."
According to C/D Mag, that package includes "back-seat windows shades,
laminated glass all around with a metallic-film heat barrier, and an air
exhaust system powered by solar cells to minimize heat buildup while parked
in the sun." The metal film reduces sensitivity on detectors, or "locators"
in the case of the V1!
