Re: Advice on 91 90Q purchase
A couple of things first off:
1. I can't make any comparisons between the 4000K and the 90. I have the
90Q-20V and never drove the 4000k.
2. Suspension replacement (springs, shocks, bushings) could be done for
about $750. Start looking for deals on springs and bearings.
3. Make sure you know when the timing belt has been changed. It is critical
that the belt does not break during operation. Most people recomend you
change it every 50-60k. This is a $350-400 repair which includes a new H20
pump, idler pulley and all the belts. If you don't do this on a regular
basis you will be looking at $800+ repairs.
4. Carefully examine the exaust....it is very expensive ($1200 - $1500).
There sould be rust on the pipes but not on the two mufflers.
5. Check the seals on the f/r differentials. I have seen a few go at 100K.
But thes are simple and low cost repairs.
6. This car has newer generation CV joints which are bigger and longer
life. at 90K my rears look new. However, I would regrease them if you can.
7. Check every switch and light.
8. Verify the hydrolic fluid was changed every 2 years and cooling system
was flushed on the same interval. Look for leaks on these systems.
9. Look for standard things.
