Tires, tires & more tires

It is just about time to re-shoe the 87 4kq.

Up until last week I was absolutely convinced that the Dunlop D60A2JLB
were the way to go. Given the postings about idfficulty in balancing and
sidewall blowouts, now I'm beginning to have 2nd thoughts.

On my short list are the venerable BFG Comp TA HR4's and Continental CH 95s.

I've decided to opt for a set of all-season tires and not do the seasonal
changeover game. In Wisconsin studded snow tires are illegal, so even if
I was goibng to run 2 sets of tires studded snows are not an option.

Roads around here tend to get plowed and tended to quite well in the
winter weather, so serious snow tire performance is not a high priority.
However, it should have the capability of handling rain, and left-over
snow and slop with some degree of competence.

Anyone want to vote on one of my 3 suggestions--or even add a 4th or 5th
to the equation.

With any kind of luck this will be the next to last Winter for the 87.
Plan to let the initial feeding frenzy over the A4 1.8tq die down and
then grab one in late winter '98 for the Spring of '98.

Thanks
