A4 steering
I agree that the steering on the A4 is light.
Part of the reason for this is the total elimination of torque steer due to
the innovative 4 link virtual axis geometry. I think part of the cost of
this technology is a loss of direct feel in the steering.
However the steering is very accurate and responsive - I have driven the
car on the race track and found it superb.
I guess we have to put behind us the idea that steering has to be heavy
and wriggle around in our hands when subjected to road imperfections and
power inputs. Accuracy and responsiveness are IMHO far more important.
Coming from a heavy powerful over assisted 5L V8 I have found the steering
on the A4 is a delight and with familiarity becomes one of the best features
of the car.
