The following decisions were taken:
TOURING CARS
SUPER TOURING - The Technical Commission has concluded that it is
impossible to reach a satisfactory equivalence between 2 and 4-wheel
drive cars. As a consequence, after consultation with the
manufacturers concerned and with their agreement, it has been decided
to ban 4-wheel drive cars from 1.1.1998. At its December meeting,
the World Council will examine a proposal from the Touring Car
Commission regarding the conditions under which existing 4-wheel drive
cars may continue to compete after 1.1.1998 when raced by private
drivers.
The weight limit of 4-wheel drive cars for 1997 will also be announced
in December.
