I went through this evaluation last summer.  I actually ran them side
by-side for about two weeks and decided on the 5000.  It falses much less
than the Solo 4 (especially on Ka band) and the display provides much more
information once you learn to gauge the size of the pyramids.  The range is
basically identical on both, which is outstanding.
