wheel bearings

The recent thread regarding wheel bearings has lead me to a question about a
noise that comes from muy var.   When driving between 40-60 M.P.H. on
winding roads in my 1990 200t, a loud humming noise comes from the front end
as I negotiate turns.    This noise isn't present above 60MPH (mainly
because that is way too fast for the curves) or on less sharp turns.   Does
anyone have any input on what this is?   TIA
