I'm in the midst of this project on my '84 4000q, after soliciting opinions
and examining options I've decided on a straight pipe from the cat
back(2.5in) into a Supertrapp black rear muffler. Glen Powell's car was
neatly done in the same setup, and I'm emulating his install a bit! Thanks
Glen! 

The muffler arrived yesterday, runs about 90$ shipped, and I'm expecting the
rest of the fabrication work to be about 150ish$. My goal was to setup a
sport exhaust below the price of an OEM system wholesale. This new setup
should support any bolt on mods up to a turbo 2.3L, when I'd need to go to
sewer pipe!

I don't know that I'd bother stringing up OEM TQC exhaust on a 4000q, lest I
had a spare set and nothing else to do with it, likewise spending $800 for a
TAP system is lunacy! Actually, 800$ for *any* cat-back Audi app is lunacy
when there are so many other options these days.

Just my $240ish...
