Reluctant 1st gear

Winter's here, and the Q suddenly developed a strange quirk.
Seems whenever it's very cold outside, the first few shifts into 1st
gear will 
be difficult. Sometimes I have to go from neutral to second, then it
goes into 
first.

Throwout bearing isn't making any noises, and the clutch adjustment
feels ok. 
This problem goes away when the engine warms up, and only happens
with first 
gear.

Before I crawl under the car this weekend, perhaps someone on the
list has seen 
this?
