I have not yet found a way of predicting whether an ur-quattro I approach will 
have a fibreglass or steel lid.  My 1988 (89 model) has a steel lid - the two 
closest we know either side of it have fibreglass.  The 1988/9 MBs seem to be 
fairly evenly split.

Well, they are all hand-built. 
I bet it just comes down to what wuz in the factory pahts bins on a particular day....
