FIA Quattro Ban
(The following was sent on the 23rd, but seems to have fallen into a
bit bucket somewhere. Apologies if some did receive it.)
This is deja vu all over again. In the hayday of the Trans Am, the
SCCA banned full independent rear suspension so Chevrolet couldn't put
the Corvette rear end in the Camaro and gain another unfair advantage.
(The first advantage was Mark Donahue and Penske). This set back US
sedan development for years and caused me to avoid all SCCA sponsored
activity. (Technology supression is anathema to me.)
Similarly, the Corvair was blocked from meaningful competition by the
SCCA until Yenko went to the trouble of homologating 100 "sports
cars."
If you object to the FIA treatment of Audi, vote with your pocketbook.
1966 Turbo Corvair Corsa, nearly every possible goodie but apart
