	I also own an 86 4000 with the same problem and have not been able 
to determine the problem. (BTW:  Car has 160k miles on it and no problems 
:)  )  I replaced the switch in the housing for the shift lever 
(automatic transmission) but still nothing.  If anyone knows what the 
deal is with this, let me know!
