I did many times. Criteria:

Too loose if: The steering gear "clunks" when you turn the wheel approx. 30° to 
and fro. (Engine not running, wheels on the ground).

Too tight if: The steering is heavy and you have to return the wheel to the center 
position yourself after you've completed the turn. If you wouldn't return it 
yourself, the car would continue on running in circles, as if Caster=0°.
