Well, 1985 was the swap (read: bastard) year for audi turbos, I worked on one
that was all original AND had the late 86 stuff on it(!?).... 1985'shave a
"unique" fuel distributor, fuel pump, and engine (KX)... Near as I can tell
(here we go), the early 1986 cars (build date 7/85 - 7/85) as well, have some
"differing" (read: pieces parts) parts, and would guess they have the dual
filters as well, with the water cooled bearing housing, then in 8/85> ("late
86"), the common single filter and water cooled bearing housing with the
afterun pump is found... Too bad audi didn't go with the chassis numbering
system for the changes until 1989>... When they did that, changes were easy
to reference via the VIN....
