A8 sighting
So like its early Sunday afternoon. Wife is at work, youngest kid just
left to go back to school in Minneapolis. Grass was cut, gutters cleaned
out for the umpteenth time this Fall and now its only noon.
Road trip!! Haven't been to an audi dealer in Milwaukee for quite
awhile, less than 45 minutes so why not.
Cruise on up to Brookfield Motor Cars, a Prosche, MB, BMW, Audi
dealership. (saab too). Couple of A4s scattered about--nothing special.
Four new A6s with the A4 type wheels, etc. Starting to figure this was
really a wasted trip when I decided to pull around into a back lot they
have for cars in for servicing and all sorts of miscellaneous automotic
debris. And there it is: sitting out in the November sunshine as elegant
as you please, one 4.2 liter A8 in Brilliant Black with Ecru leather.
Only options were 17" polished wheels carrying Goodyear Eagle GSD tires
and a $1700 convenience and cold weather package. With shipping $67,700.
Looked at her from all kinds of angles. could not find one that I did
not like except for the one staring directly at the price tag.
elegant to be sure. Purposeful. NOthing extraneous on the outside. Very
tasteful inside as well. Well done.
Rest of the trip uneventful to Audi owners except for a nice gray V* that
passed me on the freeway. Did see a '97 white BMW 540i at another
dealer's lot. NO window sticker. Had something on the window about
shipped as part of a tourist delivery program. Different kind of wheels
from most 5 series Bimmers I've seen. Almost looked like the wheel from
the coupe quattro with all the little gold colored bolts around the
perimeter of the wheel. Very M3 type body cosmetics. 6 speed. Really
aggressive looking.
So now I'm home. Better open up the briefcase and get some stuff done
before Monday morning gets here.
