RE: synthetics

This is just from my operating experience. I normally run Mobil 1 at
a weight of 20W-50. At the end of 3000 miles oil pressure remains at
4 bar under load. As an experiment, I tried Castrol Syntec of the
same weight. Well, after about 700 miles oil pressure reached a
maximum 3 bar under load. This means less plate to plate protection.
     I guess test for yourself.

Concerning conventional oils, a company (power plant) that I worked
for did extensive testing of conventional vs. synthetics. The results
they obtained (on very large motors) were that the conventional oils
broke down very rapidly, and consequently increased the current draw
of the motor. The synthetics should no appreciable brakedown after
very long time periods, and they concluded the savings in electricity
more than paid for the cost of the oil, not including the savings of
     metal wear.

There's my two cents, have a nice day!
