Clunk in 87 4000CS Quattro

Just found this forum and think it is great.  Could use some help.  Purchased 
an 87 4000 QCS.  When purchased it had a "clunk" when pulling in and out of 
driveways with slopes, and also when shifting weight to the left side (does 
not happen when shifting the other direction).  I have replaced the struts, 
and strut bushings, wheel bearings and tie rods, and still no reduction.  
Thinking it may be the conrtol arm bushings or ball joints?  Ideas on cause or 
troubleshooting methods would be appreciated
